URBIO (URban BIOdiversity and Design) is an open worldwide scientific network for education and research with the aim to promote the implementation of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in urban areas. Within the CBD programmes, URBIO is a scientific advisor for the Major Group "Local Authorities" and partner of the "Global Partnership on Local and Subnational Action for Biodiversity".

URBIO2010 - Urban Biodiversity in the Ecological Network
2nd Conference of the URBIO network, May 18.-22. 2010 in Nagoya/Japan
During the second URBIO conference 340 oral and poster presentations were discussed by 460 participants from 30 countries. In addition to the conference presentations there were excursions to provide an opportunity for discussions with non-profit organization (NPO) members at field sites where they are making continuous efforts to conserve/restore biodiversity. As a result of the conference, The Nagoya Declaration URBIO2010 tackled challenges for the future of urban biodiversity and was delivered to the City Biodiversity Summit in October 2010.
